Dabu printing is a traditional Indian textile art, particularly famous in Rajasthan. It's a mud-resist hand block printing technique, involving multiple stages. The process starts with the application of a mud paste onto fabric using wooden blocks. This paste, made from a mixture of clay, lime, gum, and wheat chaff, resists dyes. After applying mud, the fabric is typically dyed with indigo, creating a unique effect where the mud-covered areas remain uncolored. Once the dyeing is complete, the mud is washed off, revealing intricate patterns. Dabu prints are admired for their earthy and ethnic appeal, often featuring motifs inspired by nature.
