Dabu printing, a traditional Indian textile printing technique, primarily hails from Rajasthan. It involves a mud-resist hand-block printing process, where artisans apply a specially prepared muddy paste called 'Dabu' onto the cloth. This paste, made from a mixture of clay, lime, gum, and wheat chaff, is used to create intricate patterns. After the paste application, the fabric is sprinkled with sawdust or sand to ensure the mud sticks and then dyed, typically in indigo. The areas covered in Dabu resist the dye, creating unique designs. Dabu prints are celebrated for their earthy and rustic aesthetic, characterized by their indigo hues and complex patterns.
