Ganesh Chaturthi is probably one of the most beautiful festivals of India as it marks the Birth of our most beloved God GANESHA. It is celebrated across the country most notably in the land of Indian cinema – Mumbai. It is well known for its enormous celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi every year by millions of devotees. Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10-day festival to celebrate the birth of Hindu god – Lord Ganesha. The Ganesh Chaturthi is followed by cascade of Hindu festivities such as Navratri and Diwali. Therefore, Ganesh Chaturthi brings enormous zeal and joy along with it and embarks upon the begning of festivities throught the country. Historians say that the recorded pioneer of Ganesh Chaturthi is Indian nationalist Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who started Ganesh Chaturthi as a gala event in 1863. During that time social gathering in India was prohibited by the colonial rule of East India Company. Tilak wanted that on Ganesh Chaturthi Indian community from different social and economic backgrounds would come closer to each other. Tilak’s vision was to form a platform where Indians would meet and participate in Indian independence movement.
