All About Anti-Microbial Bed sheets And How These Bed Sheets Are Preventing From Infectious Coronavirus

In present times, all that we can think about, talk about, or read about is the novel Coronavirus or the COVID-19. It is scaring us all, all over the world thinking that a microscopic organism can create havoc like this and force the entire world to go into self-isolation or even forced isolation in places where the situation has gone beyond control. But if you are still looking for some more insights into what the Coronavirus is or for that matter, what is the nature of any virus, you have to read on!

What do we know about viruses?

A virus is an infectious agent which can make copies of its own self once it's inside a living cell of an organism and is submicroscopic. The reason we say that it can copy itself is that once infected, a host cell is forced to replicate the virus and multiply in thousands very quickly. This is how it spreads diseases in humans, animals, and even plants.

A virus has a protein coating protecting it from dying very fast, and it can be transmitted via any surface form. It can also be transmitted via bodily fluids in any form for example, Saliva, blood, urine, and stool. Even coughing and sneezing can spread the virus. Sometimes it can also be spread through insects and animals. Depending on the type of virus and its potentiality, its ability to live without a host depends. It doesn't have the power to live or reproduce without a host as they do not have their own metabolism.

Scientists have developed various vaccines and medicines overtime to protect us from these viruses. However, there are still few viruses like, viral hepatitis and AIDS that have no vaccines, and scientists are still trying.

What is the Corona Virus?

In general, Coronaviruses are a group of viruses causing diseases in mammals and birds and are mostly found to cause infections, ranging from mild to lethal, in their respiratory tracts. The most lethal varieties amongst them are the MERS, SARS, and the most feared COVID-19. The recent-most and of course, the ongoing case of a massive infection that has brought the world to a standstill is the Corona strain known as COVID-19. It's one of the most highly infectious diseases and has been spreading wildly. People who are infected with this virus may show symptoms of mild to moderate respiratory troubles and can recover without any treatment. However, people who have chronic respiratory disease, diabetes, cancer, or cardiovascular disease may fall seriously sick and require medical attention. Many have lost their lives to this virus, and many are still fighting.

How to prevent the spread of the COVID19?

The best way to prevent the spread of this virus and to protect oneself and others is by not touching your face or shaking hands. Keep your hands and face clean by washing it frequently with soap or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid sneezing in your hands, Cover your face and nose with facemasks and wear gloves if necessary. Once you return home, immediately change into freshly washed clothes. Wash the worn clothes in detergent or soap with hot water so that no residual droplets from anyone sneezing or coughing remain to infect you or anyone else. If hot water is not available, then soaking your clothes in 0.05% chlorine for 30 minutes will help kill the virus. Then rinse thoroughly, and let them dry in the sun.

When you are outside your home, please ensure to maintain social distancing. While purchasing groceries, make sure that the purchased products are washed or thoroughly sanitized to prevent any transmission. Be careful and avoid touching anywhere else after dealing with banknotes and coins. Please do not forget to wash your hands and avoid touching your face before washing your hand thoroughly with soap. This is a new virus, and we still do not know much about it. As always, prevention is better than cure. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Why cotton bed sheets?

Coming to the choice of clothes and fabrics we may use during the COVID-19 times, let us look closely to have a better idea.

Cotton is the most chosen and preferred fabric of usage. It is used almost everywhere from clothes, curtains, and even your bed sheets. It is the most comfortable fabric, and we just love it. In fact, it is also the most comfortable choice of clothing during the hot and humid months, considering how soft and fresh it feels. Though like any other fabrics such as polyester, cotton material also retains infections easily. But the best part is you can disinfect a cotton material easily by washing it with hot water and superior quality detergents. And due to nature of organic cotton fabric, this would not have any material wear and tear even if you wash regularly.

And also companies started opting for impenetrable fabrics with advanced anti-microbial properties. This was first developed during the 1950s and has been very helpful since then. It may not have been a part of a household product, but in today's world where the virus-like COVID-19 has taken over, it has become very important to take all precautions. Wondering how these fabrics are!

Anti-Microbial Fabrics

We think generally that we spend our majority of time in the living room, or guest room watching TV or kitchen making food. But actually as per a study, we spend one-third of our lives sleeping. Surprised! Yes, so you cannot ignore your bedroom. Your bed sheets play a major role to keep you healthy physically and mentally. A sound sleep is a healer for all your tiredness. And apart from sleep time, you use your bedroom as part of family gossip as well. So just think how many times you touch your bed sheet consciously or unconsciously. And with the prevailing pandemic coronavirus, you need to take utmost care from spreading this COVID-19 virus. So buy online anti-microbial bed sheets and protect your family from deadly viruses like Coronavirus.

So actually what is the anti-microbial fabric?

As the name suggests, it's a type of fabric that helps in fending off micro-organisms (Bacteria, viruses, protozoan, and fungi). Its ability is in destroying and not allowing any micro-organism to inhabit the surface of the fabric. It is very similar to antibacterial soap and disinfects as it helps stop the spread of any disease. It is also long-lasting and made from various materials of textiles like polyester, Polyester vinyl composites, Vinyl and even acrylics. It is basically an anti-microbial layer on the fabric to protect it from micro-organisms. It has been used in medical beddings and curtains. It's also available in uniforms of the hospital, military, and various many more. This technology is now being used in our household items as well to help us prevent the spreading of infections. Anti-microbial bed sheets are being made for daily usage, and you can order these anti-microbial bed sheets online.

With the use of this anti-microbial feature along with those of odor, fire, water, and stain resistance, the fabric becomes long-lasting and can withstand a lot of wear and tear than any other normal fabric. As said by someone "the first line of defense starts with a product that does its job". The anti-microbial fabric actually does its job by reducing the retaining and transmitting power of any bacteria, virus, or diseases. These can live and grow in fabrics that are not layered with anti-microbial material and can be very harmful.

When the whole world is fighting a war against the Coronavirus, we can try and help as much as we can.

Verified or merely claimed

The original or genuine anti-microbial bed sheets have been lab-tested, and it has shown an immense reduction in any sort of bacterial activity on the surface of the fabric. This fabric has been tested against Klebsiella pneumonia and methicillin-resistance staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) according to the testing standards of AATCC 147 and ISO 22196.
